Laboratory technicians for Research and Teaching in Biological and Chemical Engineering

We are currently seeking two laboratory technicians for the Section for Biological and Chemical Engineering, Department of Engineering, Aarhus University. We are working with a board range of techniques ranging from classical chemical analysis to refined biological setups both regarding research and teaching. Your professional experience is no limitation as long as you have a positive attitude, are willing to learn new analytic techniques and find it inspiring to teach. The positions are available immediately. The working hours are 37 hours per week and the place of employment will Hangøvej 2, 8200 Aarhus C.

The main tasks of the positions are related to research and teaching in chemical engineering as well as organizing and maintaining a well-functioning work environment. The responsibilities for the positions include:

  • Teaching laboratory exercises and related educational activities.
  • Instruction and supervision of bachelor, master and PhD students in the laboratory
  • Research support for the VIP staff
  • Maintaining laboratory equipment, instruments and procedures
  • Ordering and registration of chemicals.
  • General maintenance of laboratories.
  • Ensuring a safe and healthy work environment.

The ideal candidate have some or all of the following qualifications:
  • An educational background as a laboratory technician or equivalent.
  • Experience with one or more off the following work areas: chemical analyzes, biological analyzes, bacterial assays, specialized in special equipment etc.
  • The knowledge, or the ability, to learn new analytical equipment and techniques.
  • Solid communication skills in English (the groups common language).
  • Ability to work in a highly dynamic work environment, and interact with both colleagues on all levels and from different cultures.
  • High social and engaged team player with solid cooperation skills.

  • Independent and capable of organizing and prioritizing work assignments and work hours.

Our emphasis will be on the candidates ability and desire to contribute to an expanding research section. You will be working closely together with researchers, students and other laboratory technicians.

Formalities and salary range
Salary and terms as agreed between the Danish Ministry of Finance and Public Employee Organizations for the HK Laboratory (OAO agreement).
