Technical assistant in Mechanical Engineering

Aarhus Universitet

Aarhus University, Department of Engineering, Section of Mechanical Engineering offers a position as a technical assistant with primary focus on laboratory activities. The activities lie in relevant areas of mechanical engineering experimental research and contribution to research based teaching by e.g. laboratory instructions. This includes instrumentation of machines for measuring cutting forces. It further includes research and laboratory instruction activities related to continuum mechanics, fracture mechanics, composite materials, and fluid mechanics including wind tunnel setup as well as for experimental activities related to heat transmission.

Job description and requirements
Modeling, instrumentation, simulation, design, control and accuracy prediction of experimental mechanical systems. Assistance in laboratory activities related to research and research based teaching activities in mechanical engineering. Running experiments and data acquisition using available equipment at the department such as digital image correlation, tensile testing, running experiments with motion-base system, instrumentation of robotic set ups, wind tunnel instrumentation etc. Design and build mechanical systems and control units for research and teaching activities.

MSc in Mechanical Engineering required. A Ph.D. degree in mechanical engineering is desirable.

At least 4 years of proven experience from industry and/or academia in mechanical engineering with broad knowledge in different areas of mechanical engineering. Experience in areas such as programming and control of mechanical systems and instrumentation is desirable. System level integration and sensor and measurement system experience in industrial mechanical systems with uncertainty quantification is desirable. Programming experience and experience with data acquisition and treatment is desirable.

About us
