Laboratory technician within molecular neuroscience

The Department of Biomedicine at Faculty of Health at Aarhus University invites applications for a position as a laboratory technician within molecular neuroscience in the Nykjær Lab as per 1 August 2019, or as soon as possible thereafter. The position is an event-restricted full-time position, with 1-year employment at minimum.

The Nykjær Lab is part of The Danish Research Institute of Translational Neuroscience (DANDRITE), the Danish node of the Nordic EMBL Partnership for Molecular Medicine, hosted by Aarhus University and funded by the Lundbeck Foundation, as well as Center for Proteins in Memory (PROMEMO), a Danish National Research Foundation Center of Excellence. PROMEMO focuses on circuits and proteins regulating memory and DANDRITE is an interdisciplinary research center that performs basic and translational research in the brain and peripheral nervous system.

Your job responsibilities
You will be working on a project to uncover key molecular mechanisms determining the correct development of the dopaminergic nervous system.

Your primary responsibilities and tasks will be:

  • Cell biological studies and histological analyses of specific mouse models
  • Genetic manipulation and in situ hybridization analyses in zebrafish
  • General routine work in the lab and assistance with experiments
In your daily work, you have a close interaction with and supervision by competent colleagues.

  • You have a background as a laboratory technician and have worked with animal models, cell biological, histological, and molecular biology analyses and techniques.
  • Laboratory Animal Science Course FELASA A and D are a requirement.
  • Motivation and skills to carry out an independent part of a research project are an advantage.
  • Experience with working in a research laboratory at a university will be considered an advantage.
  • We expect you to be fluent in oral and written English and have good communication skills.
  • As a person, you have good interpersonal skills, are friendly and helpful, and able to contribute to a good work environment.

Place of work
You will be part of an international lab with a friendly atmosphere. You will be employed with reference to the director of PROMEMO and DANDRITE Group leader Professor Anders Nykjær at the Department of Biomedicine, Aarhus University.
