Postdoc of Chromatin Effects on Non-coding Transcription

The Department of Plant and Environmental Science, Faculty of Science, University of Copenhagen invites applications for a position as Post Doc for 2 years. The position is open from 1 June 2019 or as soon as possible thereafter.

The Marquardtlab is recuiting a postdoctoral researcher focused on dissecting the molecular mechanism of long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) transcription in budding yeast. In particular, we aimto understand the specific contributions of characteristic chromatin architectures at eukaryotic promoters to divergent lncRNA transcription, a ubiquitous type of lncRNA transcription generated in the opposite direction to mRNA. The selected candidates will address this question by using fluorescent reporter systems, reflecting divergent non-coding transcription, in a yeast histone mutant collection and generating quantitative single-cell biology data on a high-throughput flow cytometry platform. Additional approaches will include verifying high-confidence hits and employing cutting-edge nascent transcriptomics methods to study their functions genome-wide. The candidate will also help to develop novel proteomic strategies to identify the chromatin signatures underlying gene and lncRNA transcription.

The successful candidate will be required to demonstrate expertise with the research background and/or the mentioned methodologies. The fit to the research team will evaluated in an interview visit.

The postdoc’s duties will include research within Chromatin Biology, RNA Polymerase II transcription with emphasis on long non-coding RNA transcription as well as teaching. The post may also include performance of other duties.
