Postdoctoral Position in Aquatic Toxicology

Syddansk Universitet

The Department of Biology at the University of Southern Denmark (SDU), Odense, invites applications for a postdoctoral position (two and a half year) in Aquatic Toxicology to start as soon as possible.

The applicant must have obtained a PhD in biological sciences and have relevant research experience, preferably in aquatic vertebrate ecotoxicology.

The successful candidate will work closely together with students, laboratory technicians and scientific staff in the Ecotoxicology group at SDU. The group's research projects are closely linked to the needs of the society, and the group has especially collaborated with the Danish Environmental Protection Agency (Miljøstyrelsen) and the OECD to develop international test systems that reveal possible endocrine disruptors in model organisms eg. fish and amphibians.

The successful candidate will be obliged to carry out research projects funded by the Danish Environmental Protection Agency via Danish Centre on Endocrine Disrupters (CeHos). The candidate will in particular conduct experiments to investigate the effects of especially thyroid disrupting chemicals in endemic species of frogs, but the candidate will also be expected to take part in other research projects within the Ecotoxicology group.

The main tasks of the candidate will include experimental design and setup, laboratory analyses, preparation of manuscripts, teaching and/or supervision of biology and pharmacy students.

Good practical skills and English writing skills are required, and candidates with experience in histopathology, aquatic exposure setups and chemical analysis (e.g. LC-MSMS) will to be preferred.

Deadline: 27 March 2019.
