Science and Technology, Aarhus University Flakkebjerg, invites applications for an Academic employee 4-year position at Department of Agroecology starting on 1 June 2019.

Working area

The successful candidate will be part of a team working on disease management in cereal crops. This include working with cultivars, fungicides, biological control agents and decision support systems (DSS) - often in combination.

As an active partner in several international projects (EUROWHEAT, SPOTIT, etc.), the candidate must be able to handle and analyse big datasets from disease trials. In addition, the candidate will be responsible for collecting knowledge on existing DSS from across Europe in a new Horizon 2020 project aiming to create a joint platform for DSS in Europe. These activities, together with the assessment of diseases in trials conducted in field and greenhouse will be key to support the research carried out in our plant disease management group.

Our group has several nationally and internationally focused projects and we coordinate several trial activities. You will be part of the disease management group, which includes scientists, postdocs, PhD students and technicians.


MSc or PhD degree within plant disease epidemiology and/or pathogen population biology.

  • Technical skills in handling disease trial datasets from different countries.
  • Good skills in carrying out field assessments in disease trials.
  • Knowledge on decision support systems and comparison of different systems.
  • Experience in collaboration with technicians and scientists in diverse research environments.
  • Ability to effectively work both independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary research team
  • Interest and skills in communication and technical training of visiting scientists and students.
