Tenure Track Position / Associate Professorship in Bioinformatics at Aarhus University, Denmark

A Tenure Track position or an Associate Professorship in Bioinformatics is available from October 1, 2019 at the Bioinformatics Research Centre (BiRC), Aarhus University (www.birc.au.dk), Denmark.

The position
We seek an internationally recognized researcher in bioinformatics. We welcome applicants within all areas of bioinformatics with a strong focus on development of computational and statistical methods. The applicant must have earned a PhD degree and have demonstrated excellence in research and scholarship within the field of interest.

As an assistant professor in a tenure track position, the candidate is expected to develop a strong and competitive research program and will be offered local mentoring during the tenure track period. Start-up funds to establish a competitive research program are negotiable. In case of more senior applicants, a position as associate professor will be considered.

The successful candidate is expected to establish his or her own research team and profile, deliver innovative research of the highest international standard, participate actively in collaborations with other researchers at BiRC and Aarhus University, contribute to teaching and supervision of students, and obtain competitive research funding from external funding bodies.

Bioinformatics Research Centre (BiRC)
BiRC is an interdisciplinary research centre that employs about 40 researchers and PhD students. The research at BiRC spans major areas of bioinformatics, and BiRC is involved in teaching and supervision of students on all levels from BSc to PhD. In particular, BiRC is responsible for the Master's program in Bioinformatics.   • information about current research activities and a statement of future research plans;
  • a teaching portfolio and verified information on previous teaching;
  • a description of any participation in committees and administrative forums;

Application procedure
Shortlisting is used. This means that after the deadline for applications – and with the assistance from the assessment committee chairman, and the assessment committee if necessary, – the head of department selects the candidates to be evaluated. The selection is made on the basis of an assessment of who of the candidates are most relevant considering the requirements of the advertisement. All applicants will be notified within 6 weeks whether or not their applications have been sent to an expert assessment committee for evaluation. The selected applicants will be informed about the composition of the committee and will receive his/her assessment. Once the recruitment process is completed a final letter of rejection is sent to the deselected applicants, including the main considerations emphasized during the selection process.

Salary depends on seniority as agreed between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the Confederation of Professional Associations.
